Racism at Work
How racism is perpetuated by pervasive workplace myths – so deeply embedded that we have difficulty in identifying where and when racism is at work.
Research by Deloitte (2019) shows that inclusiveness directly enhances performance. Teams with inclusive leaders are 17% more likely to report that they are high performing, 20% more likely to say they make high- quality decisions, and 29% more likely to report behaving collaboratively.
Kintillo’s research-based training is designed to develop inclusive leadership skills through emotional and cultural intelligence competencies. Workshops are highly interactive with experiential exercises designed to create shifts in mindsets and behaviours. Successful training outcomes include improved team dynamics, improved engagement and motivation, improved self-awareness and communication styles, improved awareness and mitigation of unconscious bias.
Learning interventions vary according to the needs, goals, challenges, and resources of clients, and can range from bite-sized 90-minute learning interventions, 1 or 2-day workshops, to on-going transformative culture change programmes. Sessions can be delivered in person or on-line.
Make a difference in yourself and you will make a difference in your world.

Despite increasing awareness of the benefits of greater female participation at senior leadership levels in the workplace, women continue to face structural and cultural challenges which can thwart their chances of success. A powerful way of addressing this problem is to enable women to become their own champions of change.
Kintillo, working with a partner consultant, designed and delivered a 6 month program for senior associate level lawyers. Now in its 5th consecutive year, the programme takes a cohort of between 8-10 female lawyers through an integrated schedule of facilitated training, 1:1 coaching and group coaching, in which participants are introduced to skills, strategies, and sustainable thinking habits to position them for personal and professional success.
Diversity and inclusion as a human resources and business imperative continues to be an aspiration rather than a reality in many organisations. Much of the challenge lies in recognising that accepting people who are ‘not like us’ goes against how most of us are primed, and is often unconscious. Advances in neuroscience have allowed us to recognise that each of us has innate and instinctive reactions to difference that arise as a result of our upbringing and our experiences. Raising awareness of unconscious bias and how it impacts upon our thinking and behaviors can be a powerful tool for overriding these biases, and breaking down barriers to create more inclusive workplace behaviours.
Kintillo, in collaboration with a script writer and team of professional actors, designed and delivered Diversity & Inclusion training to Senior Leadership Teams through a series of interactive theatre-based workshops focused on Gender Diversity and Cultural Diversity. The sessions were designed to produce participant reflection, dialogue and awareness around some of the common behaviors and practices that operate to inhibit inclusion in the workplace.
What I learned from being in a coaching relationship was that often it’s just important to take a different perspective. Farzana helped me clarify my goals, strategies and implement a plan towards achieving those goals, and, importantly, see things I had subconsciously blocked myself from seeing. Giving myself both the time and permission to focus on myself was transformational. With the support and guidance of Farzana I was able to focus on what really mattered to me, and to change my mindset to one that supported my career journey to where I am today.
Farzana was an amazing breath of fresh air. She totally understands the context in which lawyers operate, and was ceaseless in her effort to pose questions and ask me to think about what I could possibly do differently in order to help me attain more satisfaction, not only with my career, but with my life in general. It was truly one of the first steps I had taken to look at my life as a whole. Since working with Farzana I have brought in life-changing habits including a daily meditation practice, which has not only helped me be a better lawyer, as I’m much less stressed-out, but I can actually enjoy life! I highly recommend working with Farzana.
I have really appreciated Farzana’s professional advice. Working with her allowed me to safely vent my concerns, worries and frustrations. I really value the firm that I work for so it was refreshing to hear Farzana’s perspectives and thoughts on how I should proceed with some of my frustrations. It has enabled me to improve my professional interactions in general. Thank you!
Working with Farzana enabled me to see how my way of thinking was actually holding me back from what is truly important in my life. By challenging my perspective, I became a better partner and a more effective trainer in the workplace.
I attended an unconscious bias course, which was a bite size session, fitting nicely into the busy day. The set up and introduction by Farzana gave a very clear overview of what to expect. Professional actors acted out a three-way conference call scenario demonstrating some shocking behaviour. Although the session was well over 6 months ago the behaviours I saw were so contrary to a conducive working environment, that the ‘right way’ to do things, which we in turn discussed as a group, truly resonated and I have put them into practice in my working environment. Thanks Farzana!
For several years Farzana has been the co-lead on a programme aimed at developing our female talent. Farzana continues to get very positive feedback from participants on her skills as a coach and facilitator, in particular her ability to build rapport quickly and her experience of working in high performance, high pressure environments.
