How to be a Human in the Legal Profession
A great evening of full and frank debate (and some disclosures!) about the challenges facing #BigLaw. Thank you Jonathan Kewley, Joanne Wicks KC, and Jenni Emery for making it such an enjoyable panel to be part of, and thank you Hertford College, University of Oxford and Clifford Chance for hosting and bringing this important conversation to the fore.
Some sobering stats:
- Only 6% of lawyers and 8% of other staff in law firms declare they have a disability (compared to 16% in workplaces outside law)
- 62% of solicitors starting out are women, only 37% of women hold partner-level positions
- Only 18% of lawyers in 2023 disclosed as coming from a lower socio economic background
